White As Snow!

I would like to write a review on your Keen formula. My Bichon’s been on it since the middle of September and I have seen the effects of your healthy food! The pads of his feet have become very, very black. For a while on the old food, they were looking grayish and not the dark black color pads that a Bichon Frise should have. Next, he had bad tear stains on the fur around his eyes and also stains around his mouth. They were very noticeable. After 2 weeks on Keen, they were gone! Third, he has noticeably more energy now. Fourth, he has finally stopped scratching! After being on Keen for a couple weeks, his allergies stopped. The Honest Kitchen was the only food that made his tear stains and beard stains go away completely.

It also feels so good that my dog loves his food and eats it when I put it down!

Hello Marsha! I am hoping someone from the Honest Kitchen will respond to this… but in the meantime, what I’ve read online that is good for dogs with cushing’s is:
    High levels of protein
    Low levels of fat
    Low amounts of fiber
    Low levels of purine
Sufficient potassium and sodium content, especially if the dog is on medication for Cushing’s disease
    An adequate quantity of water

So if I’m correct in my thoughts, Embark would be better because it is high in protein, low in fat and does not have grains(grains add more fiber). The fact that it is rehydrated before given, makes it a diet that adds water to your pet’s daily intake, so that is a good plus.

We have a Malti-poo withthe same problem with the eyes draining and beard stain. I’ll give this a try, but first have to know if the foods are OK for a dog with Cushing’s? I am feeding Mitzy ground turkey with lots of ground fresh veggies mixed in and of course supplements for liver disease.

This is my Bichon,Skye. :) I am happy that you put my testimonial on your blog because I think everyone should know how good your food is. I am so impressed. I forgot to include in my review that Skye loves the taste of your dehydrated raw. I think Keen is his favorite so far, but he likes Preference with added raw meat and he likes Verve. He is eating Verve now. He is otherwise very very picky. I also forgot to tell you about his paws. Before I fed him THK, he was chewing his paws and they too became pink. Now He doesn’t chew his paws anymore and you can see in his photos that the hair on his paws are white too! I feel good about feeding your food to my Bichon and I tell everyone about how good and healthy your food is.
