Two Young Companies Form a Force to be Reckoned With

For Immediate Release April 3rd 2006

San Diego, CA. The Honest Kitchen, Inc., and Primal Pet Foods Inc., (San Francisco, CA) announced today the commencement of a strategic alliance, one of the first in the pet food industry. The aim of the alliance (a brainchild of Lucy Postins and Matt Koss the respective founders of the two companies) is to forge a strong, cohesive relationship that will foster long term growth and increased market share.

“Our companies make products that compliment each other so well, it seemed almost obvious to market them simultaneously with a formalized arrangement” commended Matt Koss, Primal’s founder & president. “The stores we have spoken with also appreciate our combined efforts of co-marketing two product lines simultaneously and it helps them better understand how to sell two complimentary products to the consumer, as well.” he added.

The strategic alliance encompasses a broad plan of actions to be implemented over the next several months and commences with a sales campaign aimed at California retail stores. It ties in Primal’s new Raw Grinds meat products with The Honest Kitchen’s Preference, a dehydrated vegetable and fruit ‘base mix’, scheduled for launch this month.

The two corporations will commence a state-wide, mail-based introduction of their products to stores, using custom-designed post cards along with phone consultations and in-store visits by sales reps and business development executives.

Primal Pet Foods and The Honest Kitchen already use word-of-mouth recommendations for one another’s lines. Many customers who use the dehydrated food, like to mix in frozen products for variety, and those who feed frozen raw, often need a more travel-friendly option when they are on the road.

“Our emerging companies are at the forefront of the existing industry move towards healthier companion animal nutrition” explained Lucy Postins, The Honest Kitchen’s director of marketing, “we share the same goals and core values covering much common ground and it makes good business sense to align our companies in this way.”

The collaboration will likely extend to a nationwide campaign in coming months with shared sales reps, reciprocal coupons, web site link exchanges, and other marketing and PR efforts. The companies will not share mailing lists of contact information from private customers, in accordance with their privacy policies.

“On a practical level, the alliance will represent cost savings and increased efficiency versus single handed marketing projects” states Koss. It also represents heightened credibility for both parties and a more formidable joint-force in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
