The Honest Kitchen Unveils Pawlanthropy, a Program for Giving Back

For Immediate Release, March 7th 2007

San Diego, CA. The Honest Kitchen announced today that it has formalized its established program for charitable giving, with Pawlanthropy, a new program for giving to animal-welfare, humanitarian and environmental, charitable causes.

“In the fiscal year 2006, just under 25% of our net profits were donated to charity” stated Lucas Marquardt, the company’s CFO. It therefore seemed logical to establish a proper program for the money we give to non-profit organizations worldwide.

The company’s Pawlanthropy Program has two operatives for giving back. The first is our Charity Of The Month, where a noble cause is selected by company staff, to receive a portion of the profits from that month’s sales. The charity of the month is showcased in the company’s online newsletter, so customers know where a portion of the money they spend will be headed – and can elect to donate some of their own money directly to the same cause too, if they wish.

In tandem with the monthly charity chosen by staff, The Honest Kitchen now runs a formal donation request system, where charitable organizations such as breed rescues, may contact the company for product or cash contributions to be used at events, auctions or for other special causes.

“We are delighted to be in a position to donate such a large portion of our profits to different organizations throughout the year” commented company founder Lucy Postins. “It gives a real sense of doing something to make a difference, so our staff feel great about it and our customers also love the idea some of the money they spend with us will be going to help the environment, people in need, or animals less fortunate than their own”.
