"We know our pets love us, but if dogs and cats were allowed to pick their own best friend, they’d undoubtedly choose Lucy Postins.
Postins, 38, is the founder and president of The Honest Kitchen, an East Village-based company that makes human-grade cat and dog food. The ingredients in those dehydrated meals are so natural — with everything from fresh vegetables to line-caught fish — that it’s safe for people to eat, too.
Postins grew up in England, where she earned a degree in Equine and Business Studies, and moved to San Diego 16 years ago. She currently lives in Bird Rock, where she's raising her family.
In 2002, Postins began experimenting with natural pet food in her own kitchen and passing it out at local dog parks. Ten years later, she has a staff of 24, customers around the globe and her company was voted one of “Outside” magazine’s 100 Best Places to Work (the company came in at number 19)."
