I am so thankful to have found this food. My young dog was completely uninterested in food and would often skip 3 days of meals in a row. He is extremely active (walks/runs 14 miles a day) and because he travels with me for work, if he skipped breakfast, he was often out of luck until dinner time. I now feed him Preference every morning and rotate through 6 different proteins on a daily basis as the add in, so he loves that he gets a “new” breakfast every morning and he never skips his breakfast anymore. This is a great option for people whose dogs need variety in order to stay interested in their food.
I used a sample package from my local pet store in a dog treat recipe I made. It worked great and I know my dog treats are extra healthy. I believe that this food brought my dog back from the brink of death, and I don’t say that lightly. Last fall, my 14-year old miniature poodle, who up to that point had been a strong, energetic dog with a wonderful personality, became ill with a number of issues, largely anal-gland related. He was a very picky eater, and seemed to be losing ground quickly. Then we did two things: got him ‘fixed’ (which we had not before), and started feeding him foods from the Honest Kitchen, particularly Preference with added home-cooked meats. It was like a miracle! Over the course of a few weeks, all of his issues either improved or disappeared, his energy returned, and his appetite soared! He loves eating those foods, and always cleans his plate. He goes for walks, plays ball, and we feel lucky to have some more time with Rufus. I think this is a great product–wish I had something as nutritious and easy to prepare for myself!
I have been feeding my three allergy-prone Jack Russell Terriers Preference as part of a “raw” diet for about 7 years now. Two are 11 years old and one will be 10 in September. I cannot say enough positive things about this food. People CANNOT believe the age of my dogs when I tell them because of the sparkle in their eyes and the spring in their steps. Since eating Preference, all their allergy symptoms virtually disappeared (unless “mom” slips and gives them treats with grain in them), and it’s simple to keep them at the optimum weight. Jasmine , our 12lb Coton, who came to us with lots of anxiety issues has really improved this past year since starting her on Preference. We mix it with raw meats and she goes crazy for her meals ! Thanks Honest Kitchen for such a great product! My English Springer Spaniel loves his Preference! I’ve been feeding it to him for about a month and he continues to enjoy every meal! I mix everything up in the evening – meat included, because I am always running late in the mornings. So in the morning I warm his food just to room temperature, add his supplements, and he gobbles it right up! What drew me to Honest Kitchen was the balanced calcium\phosphorus ratios. The thought of feeding only raw meat always scared me because I was afraid I wouldn’t feed him the proper balance of minerals. With Preference I can relax, knowing that he is getting exactly what he needs!
