Hi,
We are in the process of converting our cats and dog to a raw diet. I am also putting together emergency kits for said pets. The dehydrated foods would seem to be ideal for this. Can you tell me what the expected shelf life is for your pet foods?
Thank you!
This is one of the only foods that my 2 year old can eat without having vomiting or digestive problems. Really good for the sensitive stomachs! And she loves it. I mix it in with the other cats’ fresh raw food too.
My boys LOVE this food! Even my one cat who strictly likes dry food will come over and scarf Prowl! This is very convenient and always fresh food because you hydrate it for them. I can’t say enough how happy I am with this product and the quality that goes into it.
The only time Khali ever purrs is when he’s eating Prowl.
Hi Jane,
The guarantees shown are for the DRY (out of the box) values. Once the food is hydrated according to the direction, the moisture level is about 78% (and the phosphorus, sodium and other values also get ‘diluted’ accordingly too!). So, this type of food is actually an excellent choice for pets needing higher moisture such as those with urinary and kidney issues. Hope that helps.
Can you tell me why the moisture content is so low? I have seen cat foods up to 82% and yours is 5.2%. My cat has a start of kidney disease and was told she needs high moisture in her foods. Do you have others with higher contents of moisture? Also, is the phosphorus and sodium contents low enough for my cat and protein the appropriate %? Thank you.
Jane
Alright! Please let us know how you get on. One useful trick which we’ve heard some customers trying, is to dip their cat’s paws in the food. Cats hate dirty paws and will lick the food off – and become accustomed to the taste, in the process! Might be worth a try…,
Hi Lucy,
Thanks for the message. I’m going to keep on trying with the Prowl (both wet and dry) for a couple more weeks – I’m determined to make her like it! I would like to see if she’ll take to Grace.
Hi Ian,
We’re sorry to hear that. If you bought the food in a store you should be able to return in there. If you purchased it direct from our web site please call 1866 437 9729 to chat with us and organize a return. If you’d like we can also send a free sample of Grace our new turkey cat food for your kitty to try.
I liked the idea, and the reviews, of Prowl so much that I bought a 4lb box of the stuff (pet store had no trial sizes). The problem is my 5-month old kitten will not touch the stuff unless it’s dry and mixed with some dry EVO, which she won’t touch unless it’s mixed with some canned Fancy Feast McDonalds for cats. If I give her rehydrated Prowl it will be untouched until it gets thrown away. The bottom line is: this cat doesn’t like Prowl and won’t eat it even if it’s the only food available.
