My Maine Coons LOVE LOVE LOVE this food!!! They swarm me like sharks while I am getting it ready. For the past several years they have been eating canned food made in New Zealand. I don’t feel there is a “high” quality canned food produced in Canada or the USA. Due to the recession, the canning facilites in New Zealand have shut down, and now those foods are produced in the USA.

My retailer was at a pet food show recently, and was able to bring in The Honest Kitchen Prowl into the stores in Canada.
I was impressed with what she said about the food….but the real test was to see if the boys would actually eat it.

From the VERY FIRST meal…..they gobbled it up!! In a short time I have noticed their coats are so soft (and they were awesome before they started with this food.

This is a WINNER in our house, and I sure hope there are no “border” issues getting it into the country like we have had it the past.

This is the best food ever! The food of the CENTURY! We have treated 3 CRF crashed cats with it. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR CREATING THIS FOOD! It has lower ash, lower phosphorus and CLEAN protein which doesn’t tax the kidneys. My cats are all on it, and yes it was tough changing a rescued cat from his addictive food diet to something healthy, but now he LOVES it! All we did was mix a tiny bit of tuna in it to start him out, and he devoured it.
For anyone who’s curious about the CRF situation here are the figures so you can point them out to your vet when he claims that HIS KD RENAL (by-product filled) diet is the BEST option for your cat who’s suffering with chronic renal failure. Also don’t try to research kd diet’s ASH AND PHOS. stats online, because they don’t exist on their official site, & on other sites cannot be trusted. YOU MUST get a bag and READ the back label on it yourself as we have.
PROWL is the best option for cats suffering with CRF or just as a clean, pure food. The vet bills are far more costly than feeding your baby human grade quality food, that is for sure!!!!!!!!

    PROWL:
CLEAN PROTEIN EASY TO DIGEST: 32%
    ASH: 2.65 (after hydration)
    PHOSPHORUS: 0.41 (after hydration)

KD RENAL DIET DRY food FOR CATS
    By product filled Protein: 28.8
    Ash: 5.0
Phosphorus: 0.65 even though online they CLAIM to be 0.46 this is not what’s on the bag. They also fail to list the by products & animal fat in the ingredients online.

Thanks Christine! We do also have the new Wishes treats for cats, which are made from pure dehydrated icelandic haddock. They break up easily into small pieces and cats love them! Our Perfect Form, Sparkle and Invigor supplements are all suitable for kitties, too – and we’re working on a turkey recipe for cats to launch next year!

When I took my cat in, the only things she would eat were raw and kibble, so she took to Prowl immediately. Now, if she doesn’t get at least two meals a day of Prowl mixed with her kibble, she gives me ‘You didn’t do this RIGHT!’ looks.

However…I SHOUT on every survey HK sends out that they need to make more CAT ITEMS like vitamins and treats!!! I find it hard to recommend a company to others that seemingly only makes cat food as an afterthought, and that’s the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars.

Very interesting concept, but wow expensive. I grind my own raw diet for my cats and it only takes a couple hours a week. I buy human grade chicken at my butcher for $.59 per lb and grind bone-in. To those of you below asking for a fish formula, if this company is smart, they won’t do it. Fish is not good for cats and can cause urinary blockage/crystals.

  7. Abylover says:

Until I read ‘eggs’ was an ingredient I was eager to try Prowl for my allergy suffering cats. Egg is a common allergen and one of my cats is allergic to to egg as well as corn, rice wheat and lamb. This leaves me very few choices in the commercial pet food world.

  8. Aaron says:

My kitten loves it but prefers it mixed with fish. Any chance of seeing a fish option soon?

  9. Katy says:

please make a cat-version of Zeal ! My cats love fish!

  10. Danni says:

My cats eat raw, and when I got them Prowl, they were skeptical about it. I said, “ok, YOU are the one who will starve, not me!”
So I took it away until the evening feeding. I fixed Prowl in the evening, and they still only made a few licks. I said, “ok, i hope you like being hungry!”. So the next morning, when it came to fix them Prowl, they attacked it, and were licking their bowl completely clean! They love it ever since. I mix some cod liver oil and raw milk in there too.
p.s. the lesson here is: if you have a finicky cat, don’t REWARD them for it! once they are hungry enough, they will eat what you want them to eat (which, hopefully, is very nutritious and healthy)
