Welcome
Summer is almost here so we wanted this month's newsletter to be a great resource for information on traveling with your pets. A few of us here have dared to road trip with our pets and have nothing but great memories and fun stories to
share. If you have any stories or photos from traveling with your pets while feeding Honest Kitchen,
pass them along. We'll make your pet a star on our
blog and give you a free bag of food! |

Is your dog Thriving?
Big thanks to all of you who participated in the nationwide palatability trials for
Thrive. Your feedback is truly valued and taken into consideration in our product development. In case you are curious, the response was overwhelmingly positive, so it will be available for purchase in Early July.
Speaking of forthcoming products…
Ice Pups, the Snowy Snack for Pooches, will be arriving just in time for the Mid-June summer sun. They're refreshing! They're cooling (just ask the dog in the photo..he's so cool he has to wear a hat)! They're mouth-wateringly
delicious, too!
What's in there you ask?
Ice Pups: Dehydrated hormone and antibiotic free Chicken and Turkey, whey, dandelion, asparagus, watercress, honey, and parsley.
Charity of the month
We will be donating a portion of the sales from this month to Dove Lewis Emergency Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Dove Lewis is the only nonprofit emergency and critical care center in Portland. Aside from the veterinary services that they
offer, they also have an animal assisted therapy and education program, a pet loss support group, and a read to dogs program for children to help them build confidence in their reading abilities. You can check them out at

On the Road.. Again!
We're only a few days away from Memorial Day, one of the biggest travel weekends of the year. With that in mind, we wanted to share some tips for traveling with your pet that are sure to make travel less
stressful for both you and them. It might behoove you to travel with a current health certificate and proof of current rabies vaccination (especially if you are crossing any borders into Canada or Mexico).
If your travels bring you to San Diego, check out Fiesta Island, a very large, leash-free, fenced area that's especially for your dog. It's a great place for running, jumping, playing, and even swimming. For
more information, check out:
www.fidosd.com and
Fiesta Island on Dogster.
(You might even get to meet one of our "Executives" there! Charlie, the spotted one, is a frequent visitor.)

Tips for Traveling with your Furry Friends
Traveling by car?
Don't forget your Honest Kitchen and good ole' H20. Whether your pet is eating our diets on a consistent basis or if you use it as a substitute for home cooking, it's easy and convenient… even on the road. You might consider bringing
along some of the normal comforts from home like a bed or blanket and toys. They will help your furry buddy to adjust to their new surroundings. Be sure to also find some way to safely restrain Fluffy and Fido for their own well being.
Some suggestions are: in a secured carrier at the rear of the car, on the floor behind the driver's seat, or in the back seat with a safety harness designed especially for pets. Oh yeah, don't forget a first aid kit, too. It's not just for
your pet, but also for you, too. Be sure to include helpful homeopathic remedies like Arnica (for bumps and bruises), Apis (for bites and swelling), and Cocculus (for travel sickness) and flower essences like Rescue Remedy (you might end
up using this more than your pet will). Before you hit the road, be sure to check your air conditioner to make sure that it's functioning properly.
Traveling by plane?
Research. Research. Research. There are so many rules and potential risks involved in flying with pets that it's important you be fully informed. Have you traveled with your furry friends by plane? Share your story with us
here!
Traveling without your pet?
Last minute plans can be fun, but planning ahead when it comes to securing interim housing for your pet will alleviate a lot of stress for you and your companion. Prepare a contact list for whoever is taking care of your friend and don't
forget to include your veterinarian and a local contact in case you can't be reached. Also, you can leave your credit card number with your veterinarian just in case should something need to be immediately taken care of. |
