Faces, Flowers and Fun in The Kitchen!

Happy April!
This month, we have an opportunity to Make your Pup Famous (not to mention win a Year's Supply of Honest Kitchen Dog Food at the same time!), some useful notes on the benefits of Flower Essences, and a Great Giveaway, to boot!
A Contest Worth Entering!
This month, we’re holding a Nationwide Contest to find the perfect dog to appear on the packaging for our next gourmet dog food diet.

The winning dog will have his or her photograph transformed into a graphical silhouette by a professional graphic artist – and in addition to the kudos of being immortalized on thousands of boxes all across the land, the winner will also receive a year's supply of free Honest Kitchen dog food of their choice.
If you’d like to enter, please complete the entry form located Here

Dogs of all ages, breeds (including undetermined breeds), backgrounds, sizes and characters are welcome to apply. The contest closes on April 30th 2008 and the winner will be announced on May 16th 2008.

This is your pup's chance to be the Dog On The Box!
Did we Say "New Recipe"?
You bet! We just can’t stop playing in our R&D Kitchen! Our new diet is scheduled for launch this summer and the box will include the image of the dog who wins our photo contest! The recipe is being held as Top Secret at this time, but we can tell you that it’s being developed to meet the needs of health-conscious hounds on a budget.

In fact, we have several new diets planned for this year as well as a new supplemement, too! More info to follow soon.
Super Storage Special
This month, receive a complimentary Stainless Steel Storage Canister (an $18 value!) with any order over $100. Our steel canisters are food-safe and air-tight to protect food from air, bugs, moisture and most inquisitive hounds, too!

To receive your canister, simply enter coupon code ANLFTIN08 in the designated area of checkout when you place any order over $100 in value.

Please take care not to include any spaces if you copy and paste the code as this will prevent it from working.
A Day In The Life of THK
We love your pets - almost as much as we love our own!
And this month, as you show us your dogs for the photo contest, we’d love to take this opportunity to show you ours, too!
Very soon, our Web Site will have some brand new pages dedicated to helping you get to know us better, with news, stories and photos from HK's HQ!
In the mean time, we hope you enjoy a few shots from our corporate offices here in downtown San Diego. Please forgive us for being a little self indulgent!
We have a pet-friendly office and we’re joined by as many as eight dogs each day. What do they love most about coming to work – the taste tests, of course! Though we like to think they come here each day just because they enjoy our company. Cupboard Love!
Flower Power, Unleashed
Happy Pets make happy people – we all strive to raise companion animals who are healthy, happy, relaxed and content. Sometimes there are hiccups along the way however, and Flower Essences are a marvelous tool for helping to address emotional needs in our animal friends.

Flower Essences are liquid extracts made from a variety of individual flowers. They are given orally and can help with a variety of emotional issues such as anxiety, jealousy and aggression.

Animals often exhibit behavioral changes in response to underlying emotional issues. Flower essences can help a pet to feel calm and focused by enhancing & supporting emotional wellbeing.
The best known flower essence product is Dr Bach’s Rescue Remedy, a combination of five essences in combination. A few of our favorite Individual Flower Essences are:

For Jealousy
Holly, which is also suitable for those who show aggressiveness relating to past abuse.
For Grief & Homesickness
Honeysuckle for feelings of abandonment when left alone or at a kennel, and in combination with Star of Bethlehem for mourning an owner who has passed away.
For Exhaustion & Trauma
Olive and Star Of Bethlehem as well as Rescue Remedy.
For Fear
Aspen, especially very submissive pets who show nervousness in new situations.
Mimulus for fear of known things such as thunder or vet visits. Rock Rose for terror. Red Chestnut for worry that something bad is going to happen.
For Neediness
Chicory, especially for those who demand attention, easily feel jealous and when being left alone causes excessive upset.
