From Doggone Coupon Blog
A few weeks ago, the kind folks at The Honest Kitchen sent Henry and Sally a care package full of free samples of their dehydrated dog food! The Honest Kitchen has a wide variety of grain-free formulas, made with fresh, human-grade ingredients. Henry got two boxes of Zeal - made with fresh white fish, and only 8.5% fat. (Henry's trying to watch his figure.) Sally got two boxes of Embark - also grain free, made with fresh turkey, and great for pooches with sensitive stomachs.
We weren't familiar with preparing dehydrated foods before, but the instructions for preparation and feeding made it easy. After measuring out the appropriate amount for my dogs, it was a simple matter of mixing in some warm water and letting it sit for a few minutes. I was surprised by how far such a small box would go - with our tiny dogs, these samples lasted us almost two weeks! The timing was nice, too - it was COLD here in Colorado a few weeks ago, so I felt good feeding my dogs some warm food for a change!
At the first feeding, I was worried that the dogs might be confused by the appearance or smell of the new food, since it was so different from what they were used to. (Prepared, the food looks and smells a bit like Indian Saag.) But no, they dived into their bowls...it was love at first lick!Read Full Blog Post.
