November 4, 2009

It’s National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week and we at The Honest Kitchen would like to say thank you to all the founders and volunteers at animal shelters and rescues, and to those of you who’ve adopted a rescue dog or cat.

As you may know, we strongly oppose the farming of puppies, breeding on a mass scale and raising of puppies to be sold in retail outlets (our previous blog posting can be found here). In our effort to support this week and responsible breeding, we will donate a 10lb box of pet food the National Mill Dog Rescue for every 100 new fans on our Facebook Fan Page for the month of November (limit 50 boxes).

National Mill Dog Rescue is located in Peyton, CO and has saved over 2,600 dogs so far. They rescue sick, exhausted and old dogs that are no longer useful to the mill and would otherwise be killed. If you would like further details about their organization, please visit
