In celebration of the first-annual Fit Bottomed Pet’s Week and because, honestly, I’m a little obsessed with my dog and her nutrition, too (Yep, I’m one of those people), today’s Healthy Obsession is for the four-legged critters in the house. It’s dog treats! And the healthy all-natural kind, of course.
The Honest Kitchen recently sent us two of its low-calorie dog treats to try—Pecks and Nuzzles. Besides having the most adorable names ever, these have flavor combos and ingredients lists that sound dang appealing to humans. Seriously. The Pecks have barley flour, buffalo, molasses, water, eggs, coconut oil and blueberries. Um, yum. And the Nuzzles? Barley flour, duck, molasses, water, eggs, coconut oil, cherries and Parmesan cheese. I came *this close* to trying them myself, but stopped myself when my husband gave me that look that said: “I know what you’re thinking, and if you do that, you threaten my ability to take you seriously—or find you attractive—any longer.” So I had to hand over the tasting reigns to the real lady of the house: Siena. She’s oddly regal at times.
First, we tasted the Pecks. Small and cute as can be, they have just .6 calories per Peck. And can I just say that “Peck” is a really fun word to say? Really is.
A quick chew…and it was down the hatch! She was quickly ready for more.
And so we moved on the Nuzzles. A little bigger and more filling, these aren’t super hard or crumbly. They have 2.3 calories per Nuzzle.
A quick sniff to check out the heart-shape, and she was on her way to scarfing this one down.Read Full Blog Post.
