- Bone / Joint Issues, Dental Issues, Liver Issues, Senior Needs, Skin / Coat Issues, Weight Issues: Overweight
On August 31, 2013 Hubert was picked up from the Manhattan Animal Shelter as he had been found as a stray in the Bronx and was not claimed. Upon pick up from the shelter Hubert had to be brought to the vet immediately to have a large mass of hair surgically removed from his mouth. He had chewed his skin raw and had patches of hair missing. His coat was stunted and dull, and skin extremely dry and flakey. In addition to severe skin issues Hubert needed 7 teeth extracted, leaving him with just 4 teeth. He had a low heart murmur, pneumonia, and liver hepatitis. His abdomen was very distended and sensitive, he was about 4lbs overweight, and his hocks were very arthritic. Hubert was put on Keen and Invigor supplement, along with some additional fruits and veggies to help detoxify his body, and reduce inflammation. After just 2 short months on Keen Hubert's coat is now long and glossy, skin is no longer dry or itchy, no more distended belly, he can run around and do steps, and his blood work has come back perfect. Hubert is a very special boy and has been adopted by his foster mom, who just couldn't give him up. It was heartbreaking to see him so touch and go in the beginning, but with an excellent diet Hubert is now 110% better (and down to 9lbs from 13.3!) and thrilled to be starting his new life in the country with two mini red smooth Dachshund sisters Rosie and Lily.
