Last year Zip had a senior blood panel that indicated his kidneys were not functioning at 100%. The veterinarian wanted to change his diet to the prescription diet. While I had no problem limiting his phosphorus, I did not agree with a low protein diet. Zip has so much muscle from running in the field and I did not want that to deteriorate. I also did not feel that a diet with a main ingredient of corn was very nutritious. I started feeding Zip a mixture of Keen and Preference. He also gets the egg whites from one hard boiled egg per day. This kept the phosphorus levels down while providing him with nutritious protein. His blood work has consistently shown normal kidney levels. Zip is doing great on the Honest Kitchen!
