Whenever people see me out walking Max, they ask me the age of my puppy. Its true, he looks like a baby (he really IS my baby), but he's actually over 14 years old. We adopted him when he was about a year old, back in 2001. He has always been a healthy little guy, going to the vet for annual checkups, vaccinations and teeth cleaning. The adoption organization gave us a bag of kibble we could buy at any pet shop, so we stuck with that brand for about two years. At that time, a friend recommended a much healthier, more natural kibble. He did just fine with that brand for almost a decade. Then he suddenly became extremely ill. Maxie was vomiting yellow bile several times a day; he couldn't keep anything down. I immediately took him to the vet - they did the complete blood panel and a few in-office tests. He was otherwise healthy - alert, walking around, going to the bathroom, etc... but vomiting bile up to 7x a day!
At that point, we had been to the vet 4 times in 8 days. The vet had immediately put Max on Prilosec and now she wanted to add anti-vomiting and anti-nausea medications. The next step was an ultrasound and a barium x-ray at the animal hospital. I was beside myself. I had always followed the vet's suggestions, but this just seemed like too much for him. Max only weighs 10 pounds. I HATE doing invasive procedures on him (I worry about the anesthesia every time he has his teeth cleaned) because he's so small, and especially now, because he's an old man. I decided to visit a local natural pet shop and find out if they had any suggestions. She gave me a handful of packets of The Honest Kitchen (Force, Keen and Verve). Two days later, Max had completely stopped vomiting. Completely. And has been fine ever since (over six months ago).
I was in tears, I was so grateful to have found the most perfect answer for Max - the healthiest possible, all natural food. No medications, no invasive tests needed. For him, The Honest Kitchen was a lifesaver. He's back to his happy, spunky (for a 14.5 year old!) self. I am forever grateful for your products and I now tell everyone I know about your company and how it helped Max. A million thank yous!
