Banana Bread Recipe For Dogs (Gluten-Free)

What do you do with your ripe bananas? You use them to bake banana bread, of course! Share this classic treat with your pooch by whipping up a gluten-free banana bread that’s perfect for dogs. Full of probiotics from The Honest Kitchen’s Instant Goat’s Milk with Probiotics, this doggy version of banana bread will have your pup drooling before it even comes out of the oven.

Can Dogs Eat Banana Bread?

Yes, but the banana bread that you pick up at the store or make using your favorite family recipe may not be safe for your dog. People-friendly banana bread may contain ingredients that are toxic to dogs. Watch out for banana bread with the following ingredients:

  • Nuts: Certain nuts, such as macadamia nuts, are dangerous for dogs.
  • Chocolate: It’s well-known that chocolate is poisonous or even lethal for dogs, especially dark chocolate or baker’s chocolate.
  • Raisins: Raisins and grapes can cause serious issues for your canine, including kidney failure.
  • Spices: Certain spices, including nutmeg, mace, allspice, cloves, and some types of cinnamon, are toxic to dogs.
  • Xylitol: This common sweetener can trigger low blood sugar, seizures, and liver failure in dogs, or even death.
  • Butter and oil: A lot of fat isn’t good for dogs, so use cooking oil and butter sparingly, if at all.

Our advice? It’s best to start from scratch at home and use a banana bread recipe that’s crafted specifically for dogs (like the one below). Your pooch will love the flavor, and bananas are loaded with vitamins and minerals to keep them strong.
