Treats tend to get the bad wrap of being unhealthy. But that isn’t always the case; this recipe contains canola oil, which has heart-healthy mono and polyunsaturated fats as well as omega 3 fatty acids. So you don’t have to feel bad for giving your pet one…or two treats (because you can’t say no to that cute begging face). Recipe: Cinnamon Roll for your Dog (and You)!   Print Recipe This recipe contains canola oil, which has heart healthy mono and polyunsaturated fats as well as omega 3 fatty acids. Ingredients Roll Ingredients:2 Cups buckwheat flour1 tsp. Baking powder1/4 tsp. salt1/2 Cup water1/4 Cup Canola oil1 egg2 Tbsp. Honey2 Tbsp. Oats2 tsp. cinnamonIngredients For Icing:1/4 Cup Light cream cheese1 Tbsp. Milk Instructions Combine all the ingredients for the rolls in a medium to large size bowl. Stir until it is evenly mixed. Set out the light cream cheese so it can get soft for the icing. Use your hands to pack the dough together into a large pile.Move the dough to a cutting board and use a rolling pin to roll it out until it resembles the shape of a rectangle less than half an inch thick. Using a knife cut off the excess dough on the sides so the rectangle is even and straight. Preheat your oven to 325 degreesCut the dough into strips about 1-2 inch wide and 4-6 inches long (Depending on the size of the dog your making it for).Lightly drizzle a line of honey along the inside of each strip and sprinkle a dash or two of oats over the honey. Starting from a long edge of a strip, roll up jelly-role style and pinch the edge to the roll to seal.Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray and place rolls at least an inch apart from each other. Bake for 10-15 minutes. While rolls are baking, combine the light cream cheese and milk for icing. Stir well and spoon it into a plastic bag. When rolls are done let them cool for at least 15 minutes. Once they have cooled, cut off one of the bottom tips of the plastic bag for the icing and drizzle over top of the rolls.(Your dogs favorite step) It's time to let your dog enjoy a piece of your hard work! He/She will probably be startled that this time the yummy cooked treat you made was for them! This is a cinnamon roll recipe for your dog but if you want to try one of the dog treats you made then go for it. You know exactly what went into them and who knows, you might even find it tasty!
