Finished gobbling down that turkey? Turn the rest into dog treats! So much turkey…so sick of eating it! If you’re in the same boat as I am, you’ve got a freezer full of turkey that’s leftover from the holidays, and you don’t want to throw it out. Now here’s a great idea—use it for a healthy and tasty homemade dog treat! You can freeze them and have a supply for months at your disposal! I threw in some extra cranberries and pumpkin I had on hand from Christmas baking, as well as the Honest Kitchen’s Kindly base mix for the added goodness of carrots, flaxseed, parsnips, peas, celery, and coconut. Honest Kitchen Leftover Turkey Dog Treats   Print Recipe Ingredients 1 1/2 cups cooked turkey shredded or cut into small pieces, white or dark meat, skin removed1/4 cup The Honest Kitchen kindly base mix dry dehydrated food2 cups buckwheat flour1 cup whole grain oats1 egg1/4 cup dried cranberries1/4 cup pureed pumpkin1/4 cup broth (chicken, beef or vegetable)1 clove garlic, minced (optional) Instructions Preheat oven to 350°F. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.Cut or shred the turkey into small pieces. Put turkey, pumpkin puree, garlic and broth into a food processor or blender and blend into a paste.Add all ingredients to a large bowl and mix into a stiff dough. Add more broth if needed.Roll out dough onto floured surface and roll out to ½-inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes and place on baking sheets.Bake for 25-30 minutes. If you want a crunchier cookie, turn the oven off and let the cookies sit for an additional 30 minutes.Cool on a wire rack for 3-4 hours. Store in the refrigerator in a sealed tight container.
