To further our ongoing commitment to animal welfare, transparent ingredient sourcing and sustainability, we are so excited to announce that several of our products have been certified by Global Animal Partnership (G.A.P.), one of the largest and most comprehensive animal welfare food labeling programs in North America!
Thoughtful sourcing has always been at the forefront of our focus—we first moved to add free-range chicken in all of our dehydrated recipes in 2009. Since then, we've continued to expand our ingredient sourcing efforts to include Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified wild caught fish, ranch raised beef, cage free turkey and cage free duck. Additionally, we have several products that are verified by The Non-GMO Project.
To continue this legacy of raising the bar on ingredient quality in pet foods, we're proud to say that the below recipes in The Honest Kitchen's product line up are G.A.P. certified:- Dehydrated Grain Free Chicken for Dogs
- Dehydrated Whole Grain Chicken for Dogs
- Dehydrated Limited Ingredient Chicken for Dogs
- Chicken & Cranberry Parmesan Pecks (Treats for Dogs).
G.A.P.’s comprehensive standards are developed to allow for continuous improvement in farm animal welfare. The program’s species-specific standards reflect the latest research in agricultural science combined with achievable, practical application for improved welfare for the entire life of the animal. Accredited third-party certifiers audit every single farm every 15 months to ensure compliance with G.A.P. standards.
“The compassionate treatment of farm animals has always been incredibly important to us at The Honest Kitchen,” said The Honest Kitchen's Founder & Chief Integrity Officer, Lucy Postins. “We believe we can do more to further formalize and cement our commitment to chicken welfare, which first began with the transition to free range chicken in our dehydrated diets, over a decade ago. That's why we're committing to source only from farmers that have earned Global Animal Partnership Animal Welfare Certification, for all our chicken-based dehydrated recipes for dogs and Parmesan Pecks.”
