Turkey giblets are great for making gravy. But theyâre also guaranteed to make you the most popular person in the house, if you set them aside and serve them to your pup instead!
The key with giblets is to feed them in moderation, and to prepare them appropriately. A turkey neck should be fed raw, because cooking can alter the structure of the bones, making them very brittle and sharp. Ideally, turkey necks should also be ground up before serving to smaller and medium sized dogs and cats, because of the potential choking hazard when fed whole. So unless your dog is accustomed to whole necks, proceed carefully.
Other giblets such as heart and liver can be fed raw or cooked. They should be diced up with a sharp knife for smaller dogs.
