Aspen
n
nI adopted Aspen about a year ago from a local rescue. She was a stray so nothing was known about her but she was in bad shape. When I adopted her I knew she was a senior dog with a few issues. She'd been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, was clearly arthritic and also had indications of food allergies (skin infections and hair loss). Over time I deduced that she's allergic to a number of grains, and beef. Luckily she was already on a raw diet so with a quick change to raw turkey and grain-free treats, she was just fine... for the moment.
n
nBut a few months ago, Aspen fell violently ill. She had a severe case of pancreatitis and spent a few days in the hospital. Her condition was thought to be a chronic one, meaning the raw food was too high in fat for a pancreatic dog. She needed a consistent low fat diet. Because of her allergies, I couldn't feed her a prescription low-fat diet like they sell at the vet. (I'm also not a fan of most commercial canned dog food or kibble.) After doing some research I found the Honest Kitchen Zeal Recipe and ordered a box through Amazon to try it out.
n
nNot only did this old lady LOVE her new food, but it did wonders for her condition. Her pancreatic enzyme levels returned to normal within a few weeks AND her skin/coat condition is improving! She also seems to have more energy now and she's even more agile, probably because she just feels better. Even her vet couldn't believe how quickly she rebounded!
n
nI don't know where we'd be today without this food. Aspen would either be miserable from continued skin infections due to a prescription diet, or she'd be dead from pancreatitis.
n
nThank you to everyone at the Honest Kitchen for producing such a high quality food! (Aspen says thank you as well, from the bottom of her dog bowl)
