Atlas

Samoyed — Age 6

Atlas is not a rescue dog, but he has rescued me several times. His mother is a pedigreed Samoyed and his father is a half-Samoyed/ half-Arctic wolf hybrid. I really never see the wolf, except in maybe his uncanny intelligence. He has been certified as a Therapy Dog because of his sweet, easy going, and very mellow disposition. I cannot go anywhere with him and not get compliments on how beautiful he is. People always ask if he just got a bath or just got groomed, or How do you keep him so clean? I don't. I'm probably a very lazy Samoyed owner. I brush him every couple weeks (in the winter, in the summer I do step it up and brush him basically every day). And he is professionally groomed usually 2 times, maybe 3 times a year. I never bathe him at home, the plumbing clogs are not worth it. In spite of this, he is incredibly soft, with a shiny healthy coat, and no skin issues. He has great teeth at 6 and I have never had them cleaned. I started THK about 3 years ago, and I recommend it to all my friends and family. I supplement THK with raw chicken, organ meats, and a special blend of meat and organs my local butcher makes (all organic, no-antibiotics, local stuff). I have done over 100 hours of research on pet foods, pet nutrition, and how to keep a living creature healthy. THK might seem expensive, but I did a break down in price compared to the high-grade kibble he was getting (Merrick Before Grain Buffalo and SolidGold WolfKing) the price for the human-grade dehydrated food was either just as much or even cheaper per pound! Also, THK's main office was in Downtown San Diego, not even 15 minutes from my apartment.
nWhen people hear I have a 75lb dog, they tell me that he'll only live to be 10, maybe 12 years old. I don't want to believe these pessimistic views, and I have been trying to feed him the best I can so he can live a long, happy life. He is 6 years old in 2 weeks, and I am hoping he lives to be 100! He is in fantastic shape, and the vet is always impressed. I credit THK with providing a sound, nutritional, safe base for his feeding, so thank you to all of you at THK!
