All True Stories
French Bulldogs are notoriously picky eaters, suffer from food allergies and digestive disorders. Our Frenchie is no different. We are blessed that she is otherwise a strong and healthy fur baby. Her journey started 7 years ago today. We started her on Blue Buffalo. After six months we had to switch food. Brie had serious digestive issues. We did not realize that dogs have an intolerance to certain foods. We then tried Merrick. They had a good line of single & multiple source protein diets. Again, we had to change foods to accommodate her appetite and digestive needs. We then started feeding her Hills Science diet Sensitive Skin & Stomach. Again, there were appetite & digestive issues. We spent a small fortune to have her allergy tested. The final turning point was earlier this year. Brie began to vomit after every meal. She did not have a bowel movement for days at a time. After three weeks of 2 E.R. & 2 Vet visits she had become more lethargic and lost 20% of her body weight. The following three weeks she only ate rotisserie chicken. I knew we had to do something. I did my research and decided that a human grade food product with minimal ingredients was the best solution. I liked what the Honest Kitchen had to offer in both content and variety. We made the switch almost two months ago and could not be more pleased. Brie has slowly begun to gain weight. Her energy level continues to increase. Brie all but attacks her bowel when we feed her. I can feed her nothing but the clusters and she still attacks her bowel. She NEVER did that with any other nuggets. I can't explain it but I feel horrible that I did not make the switch sooner. One reservation for not switching was the anticipated extra cost. If that is all that's holding you back, STOP! The actual cost difference is minimal. The return is far more worth it when your fur baby is happy and healthy. Additionally, her appetite has never been this intense. She will actually sit by her feeding station in anticipation of breakfast (she almost never ate breakfast). She processes (digests) every bit of food and has healthy and regular bowel movements. When your dog feels better you feel better. Make the switch, you'll be glad you did.
