Butter was diagnosed with a single extrahepatic portosystemic shunt when she was 9 months old. Her liver condition requires her to be on a special diet as we were not intending to have her undergo surgery due to the risks involved. The special diet consists of A LOT of vegetables and a small portion of meat. She experienced hepatic encephalopathy once when we tried to switch her diet.
