Cody
In 2018, we were devastated after Dylan, my 18-year-old Ragdoll cat, died suddenly from a stroke. My Mom and I gave ourselves a year to process and grieve the loss. As my Mom's caregiver, I wanted her to again have a furry friend to love. During the late winter of 2019, I went to see Parker at the Babylon Shelter, a cat I noticed on Petfinders.com. Alas, he was already adopted. But my luck and my life were about to change. As I walked into the dog section of the shelter, staff were just bringing in a cold and scared runaway - a 10-month old Maltese-Bichon mix. I asked to meet the little fella, and so they placed in a small playroom. In short order, this spirited fluff-ball scampered in. Immediately, I was smitten, for he ran right into my arms and began to cuddle. OMG!! The dog-catcher notes said that he was found wandering about on a major road in Wyandanch, NY. Although I was first to fill out an adoption application, I knew there were no guarantees he'd be ours. Of course, the shelter had to allow sufficient time for an owner to come forward, as well as to do a medical exam, neutering, chip implant, etc. I also learned that over 30 people applied for him, so it was an agonizing 9 days, waiting to hear if we would be his new guardians. When we received the news that we should come down at once to welcome our new family member, I had no idea just how emotional this adoption would be. We named him Cody, and I was a teary mess of jello when we got to the shelter. Since then, we've showered Cody was love and care, and he's returned this to us ten-fold. In the fall of 2020, my mother needed bypass surgery. Between hospitals and rehab centers, she was away from home for 3 months. Despite the shadow of Covid, I was able to bring Cody regularly to the window of her rehab room was on the 1st floor, and his presence made a huge impact on my Mom's morale. Home alone, Cody's constant companionship also saved me from despair. He's insufferably happy, playful and loving. When Mom came home, he'd snuggle with her on her easy chair, content as ever. Cody made her homecoming especially great. He also sensed that she was somewhat fragile, as he was so attentive to her. Cody has gone through many different premium brands of dog food. It's great to have found a food that gives him energy, healthy stools and, especially, one that he finds delicious. Though I'm a newcomer to The Honest Kitchen food, I'm already a convert. Human Grade quality for a reasonable price - wow! I'm using your minamally-processed kibble mixed in with your dehydrated food, adjusting for Cody's weight. He's feed twice/day, and this combo also affords him the crunch from the dry kibble. It's working well. He's a very happy doggie! I'm anxious to try some of your other formulations as well. Cody just turned three. His effect upon our lives has been enormous. Yes, it's Cody's world, and we just live in it.... and we are truly blessed that we do!!!
