Dolce

Dolce / About 6 months ago, our 8 year old Afghan Hound rescue started bumping into things in low light. After spending $4,600 on doctor visits, an MRI and spinal tap, we were told that he had progressive retinal disease and was going blind. The veterinary ophthalmologist said he didn't know how long it would be before he went totally blind but it was inevitable and incurable. About that time we got a 4 month old Afghan Hound puppy and decided to start him on raw food since we had heard so much good about it. Since we would be travelling a lot with the puppy to shows we decided that the Honest Kitchen dehydrated food made the most sense for us and started the puppy on Honest Kitchen Love.
n
nWell, when we started mixing it for him our other 2 Afghan Hounds went crazy at the smell so we gave them both some to try and they loved it! So we decided to get Honest Kitchen Force for them. For all 3 dogs we mix 1/2 cup of the Honest Kitchen product with 1/2 cup of their dry food twice a day so they have something crunchy in their bowl addition to the Honest Kitchen.
n
nAbout 2 months after we started Dolce and his brothers on Honest Kitchen we noticed that Dolce no longer had a problem seeing in low light. This was quite remarkable so we started really watching him closely and sure enough, he would go out at night with no hesitation and no longer bumped into things as he had previously. We can't say for sure that the Honest Kitchen product is responsible for this but that is the only thing that changed since he had his vision problems. So we are quite thrilled about it.
n
nDolce is also a fussy eater. He was getting dry food mixed with some canned food and would sometimes just ignore it until he got really hungry. Now all 3 dogs get very vocal when it is meal time and can't wait to get their food. The 5 minute wait time for the food to get re-hydrated seems like forever when they are waiting for the food, but that is the only downside.
n
nThe 3rd dog, Dylan, is also a Afghan Hound rescue and is 12 years old. He isn't acting any different since we changed his diet except he also can't wait for his meal to be served and gobbles it up and then tries to steal Dolce's.
n
nSo for us it's all good and we have to believe that Dolce's vision has improved because of the dietary change since that is the only change.
n
nThank you Honest Kitchen.
