I LOVE The Honest Kitchen!!! As a passionate pet-parent who worked as a Vet Assistant for 3 years in High School and had originally wanted to be a vet for several years, I've always been obsessed with optimizing my fur-children's health and happiness. I subscribe to the let they food be thy medicine philosophy, and I truly believe that The Honest Kitchen is THE best commercial pet food (which is truly FDA-Approved Human-quality, non-FEED-grade food) on the market today. Several years ago after learning how horrible fast food feed-grade kibble truly is, I began making my own fresh, raw diet for my dogs. I ground the raw meat and bones and veggies myself every three months. Then, I stumbled on The Honest Kitchen. Originally, I used Preference and mixed in my own protein sources. Then I finally converted to the meat-inclusive recipes, and still add my own fresh food ingredients on a weekly basis, rotating supplementing it with a can of sardines or tuna, raw eggs, and some added fresh, raw (sometimes cooked) ground turkey, chicken, or beef. I cannot begin to describe how healthy and vibrant my two beloved Shelties' skin, coat, teeth, and energy levels have been on THK. Previously, my dog's coats had that sort of waxy, flakey, dandruff-y, hot-spottiness--and that was on Science Diet! Now, their coats smell fresh and clean and there's no waxy residue even after intense finger/fur-scratching-sessions... Their teeth are white and tarter-free. I tell virtually anyone I know who has dogs about The Honest Kitchen, and as a professional New Hire Training Specialist at the corporate bank I work at, I share my passion for pet nutrition (including my love of THK) with everyone I meet, as well as encouraging them to watch the documentary Pet Fooled on Netflix.
