 Eevee / I really wanted a dog! I really wanted to rescue a dog who needed me. I thought I'd go to a high kill shelter, and wind up with a senior bully-type breed on an EBI list. However, I spent about an hour at the shelter without really connecting to anyone in particular...so I ventured into the puppy room where there was a small, mangey, black puppy all by herself in isolation due to sarcoptic mange. Despite looking at other puppies, I came back to her and took her out of her crate. She wouldn't let me put her down! She had so much energy I was a little nervous to take her home but she was just so excited to be held. She wasn't in great condition. The mange blanketed her skin in a layer of dander, so much so that she looked like someone had sprinkled flour throughout. In fact, she had been pulled from an EBI list just hours before her 2 month old self was to be euthanized. She had open sores and scabs, and was incredibly itchy; but she was definitely my dog! I took her home and started her on a premium kibble. She liked it (before she was taken into the shelter, she had been found living out of a dumpster...so she eats most things) but nothing would stop her incessant itching and licking. Despite finishing her mange treatments, moisturizing baths, and everything to comfort her, nothing I did would stop her flakey skin or itch! I put her on THK Embark and low and behold the dander is next to nothing and the itch has virtually stopped. I definitely say it was the diet! And, she absolutely adores this food!
