Fiona

Border Collie — Age 12

This True Story is in loving memory of my Fiona Girl. At age 11, FiFi was diagnosed with Gastrointestinal Adenocarcinoma, an aggressive, metastatic, terminal stomach cancer. Adopted from rescue at 16 weeks, Fiona stole our hearts from the first moment we laid eyes on her adoption photo. She was happy, energetic, an incredibly faithful companion to her people, a curious and loving nanny to all the babies born on our farm, and a uniquely brave girl throughout her illness. Like many people would, I blamed myself when she got sick. What had I fed her that caused this?? As I nursed her through her last months of life, I vowed to find a wholesome food with straightforward ingredients to feed our pack. While Fiona never enjoyed meals from Honest Kitchen, her packmates receive HK shipments every two weeks: Floyd (senior Anatolian), Jilly (3 year-old Border Collie), and Valerie (Kangal puppy). Not a day goes by that I don't crave another moment with my FiFi Girl. I know that cancer does not discriminate and it can affect any of us at any time for any number of reasons. Her illness may or may not have been diet-related...I will never know...but I have found a better way to nourish my current pack. And it's all because of you, sweet girl. XO Mama
