Happy

We were looking to add another dog to our lives and my wife had been hunting the local kennels for a rescue pup that fit our needs (small, non-shedding breed). Her and my daughter found him while I was at work one day. He was so happy to be around people and getting attention. My wife and daughter instantly fell in love. He wouldn't stop wagging his tail and had such a happy demeanor that he had a name before they even left the kennel...Happy. We don't know what mix he is but that makes him even more unigue and special to us. Happy was looking pretty rough when he came home. You could see straight through his thin coat to his pale pink skin. He had trouble eating and refused pretty much all food at first. We were eventually able to coax him into eating small amounts of warm whole grain chicken food from THK. Slowly but surely, his appetite grew and soon he couldn't get enough food! With his improved diet, Happy's skin tone improved and he even developed dark patches to mellow out his pinkness. He grew a beautiful course layer of hair with a thick and soft layer underneath. He is so strong and healthy now! He became so enthusiastic about eating that we had to teach him hand signals and patience (credit to my wife for that). Regardless of how excited he is, we can now use hand signals to get him to sit before we give him his food. He'll sit there and stare at you with his beautiful brown eyes until you get him the signal to chow down. Happy is still the happiest dog I've ever known. He's full of energy, loving life and our family adores him. His happiness spreads happy throughout the household!
