Holly is an amazing little dog, still so full of spunk and vigor at nearly 11 years old. My husband and I adopted her when she was nine months old, after a tragedy took our previous dog, and shes been a joy ever since. I have always been very nutrition conscious, and after doing a lot of research, I put her on a completely raw, grain-free diet when she was about two. At first, I was making the food myself. It didnt work well, as it was very time consuming, and Holly got a little too skinny, possibly because my portions or ratios of the different macro nutrients werent quite right. Then, I started feeding her commercial frozen raw food, which worked well for her, but it was inconvenient, especially when traveling. Thats when I went looking for dehydrated options. There were several brands that offered high quality dehydrated raw foods, but they were so expensive. I fed her these for a little while, but I knew I wouldnt be able to maintain it, so I decided to look for more options and do some price comparisons. Thats when I discovered The Honest Kitchen. After all the research Ive done, I can say with confidence that there is no other raw dehydrated food of such high quality at such reasonable prices. She was about four years old when I found it, and shes been on it ever since. Now, at the age of 11, she has absolutely zero health issues. Her eyes are clear and bright, she has plenty of energy, her immune system is healthy, her heart and lungs are strong, her weight is right on target and she has excellent muscle tone, her coat is full and luminous, and she shows no signs of cognitive deterioration. If you dont know how schnauzers age, this might not seem that amazing, but let me tell you, it is remarkable. Miniature schnauzers are prone to a number of health issues, from benign things like bumpy skin along their backs and fatty lipomas, to more serious things like cataracts, diabetes, bladder stones and pancreatitis. I have had or known other schnauzers who have had most of these issues, and it is so sad to watch them deteriorate. Holly has shown no signs of any of these problems, which is absolutely incredible. Her veterinarian could not be happier! Every time I take her in for a check-up, she tells me Holly appears to be a dog half her age. In fact, most people guess that she is a lot younger than she is based on her appearance and playful behavior. We took her hiking in Shenandoah National Park a couple weeks ago, and she was jumping up steep, rugged terrain like a little mountain goat! Passers by were amazed when we told them her age! I could not be happier with this product and I sing its praises to every other dog owner I know. After I recommended it, my parents put their miniature schnauzer, Lucy, on The Honest Kitchen when she was young, and now they are amazed at how incredibly slowly shes aging compared to other dogs weve had in the past (shes now 9). I want to thank everyone at The Honest Kitchen for creating such a high quality dog food that has kept my dog and so many others so healthy and vibrant into their senior years. We owe it to our canine best friends to give them the very best life we can, and your products have made it possible for me to do that for my Holly. Thank you!!!
