Lola has been in my life for eight and a half years. She was found through a private rescue in San Antonio- having recently delivered puppies, emaciated and heartworm positive. She had the gnarliest mouth I have ever seen- broken teeth and gum disease. It took a while for us to find our groove together. Lola didn't know how to play. She drank water until she threw up and struggled to eat her food, often sitting by the food bowl quivering. I didn't hear her bark for over a year.
nWe did find our groove eventually, and Lola became a lady about town- going everywhere I went. She is the sweetest, most patient pup I have ever met and makes friends everywhere she goes. Almost five years ago, she became the unofficial office manager of a design/build firm, going to work with my husband every single day. She wears a construction vest at job sites and works hard in the office, warming the laps of anyone who needs it.
nWe struggled, however to control her gas. Nobody wants to be known as the stinky person at work! We switched to a different food and added digestive enzymes and it seemed to help a little. She still was never enthusiastic about her meals, though. After a terrifying run-in with coyotes in the fall of 2017, Lola started to have a few other age and trauma related issues. She lost the vision in her left eye and began moving more slowly. After a client recommended Honest Kitchen and told me her personal story, I had to give it a try.
nWithin the first week, Lola was a changed dog. It didn't take long for her to find her voice, barking playfully at me when mealtimes rolled around. Her energy level climbed rapidly. While skin issues were never something we dealt with, multiple people noted how shiny and healthy she looked. She found her sparkle, something that maybe was missing for a long time. We love how enthusiastic she is for being such an old lady. I cannot express enough how much I love Honest Kitchen and what it has done for our family. And the icing on the cake? Lola is no longer the stinky person at work. Her gas is all but eliminated. I tell everyone I can about how amazing this food is. We will never look back!
