In February of 2019 at the age 12, Maddison was found in her bed not breathing and with no pulse. Having been a veterinary technician for years, CPR was performed and miraculously she was revived!! After several diagnostic tests she was diagnosed with heart disease with syncope. This happened 1 month before her scheduled dental cleaning, leaving her dental disease to worsen. After a few months, her teeth began to be painful which led me to start feeding honest kitchen for their high quality soft diets. I was very picky about canned foods, and with the newly diagnosed heart disease, canned wasn’t something I wanted to feed. We monitored her heart for over a year. No significant changes or worsening had occurred at the 3,6, and 12 month marks. By the 18th month mark and after about a year on honest kitchen, her echocardiogram showed IMPROVEMENT of her heart which shocked everyone! Heart disease almost never gets better! We were able to anesthetize her for her dental procedure and she recovered with no problems. She continued eating honest kitchen until she passed from complications to cystic kidneys. I used to only feed her honest kitchen and occasionally mix it with my large breed dog’s food, but knowing how well she did on this food, and how much all my dogs enjoyed it, I made the switch altogether. Maddison is extremely missed, but I truly feel she was given extra time by switching her to a great food, and for that, Thank You Honest Kitchen!
