Max
Max is a super cute, healthy and active puppy. I brought him home at 8 weeks of age and kept him on the kibble the breeder had given him, as recommended, and so that he didn't have to go through so many changes. I figured I can feed him that for a few more months until I figured out a better plan, but I could tell he was not into it. I was definitely not into it. I had to lace his food with chicken bits or broth so that he would get a full portion. It already went against my grain to feed my dog something so highly processed and with unknown ingredients, but when he started having all kinds of digestive issues it became urgent to find the right food.
nI did my homework, I read as much as I could from reliable sources, I asked the professionals and I listened to my instincts. That is how I found The Honest Kitchen. Let me say that none of the other good, natural, raw, human grade, etc. food companies offered a specific puppy blend that would take care of Max's nutritional needs at 3 months of age and through the first year. They said they do, but when you read through the nutritional values of each ingredient, that seems to be untrue. My biggest challenge was to sort through all of the paid advertising, great videos and clever marketing gimmicks to get unbiased opinions.
nI found that some of this fresh food companies don't stay true to their basics when they go public and many were not giving me the information at all. When I finally figured out the right questions, THK had all the answers. As always, the proof is in the pudding. The moment I offered my dog one piece of Puppy whole grain chicken cluster he went crazy for it! His digestive issues are gone, and his enthusiasm for food makes meal time a real treat. This food smells like real food, none of the dog food smell of kibble that made handling it so unpleasant. Bottom line, Max and I can't recommend this food enough.
