O-dog

We adopted O-dog in January of 2014 from a local rescue in Maryland. When he first arrived his fur was extremely brittle and thin. His belly was completely bare! He threw up almost every morning and had goopy eyes with a sticky discharge. We tried various high quality dog foods and most of them helped some, but none really cured his skin/coat issues. We decided to stop feeding him commercial dog food and we started making all of his meals in our kitchen. It was labor intensive but it worked! We needed to figure out a way to cut down on the amount to time and effort in the kitchen without raising the cost. A friend recommended The Honest Kitchen Base Mix and we found our long-term, affordable, time efficient answer! We now feed O-dog a raw meat diet with THK Base Mix which includes all of the supplements that he needs. We add in grains, eggs, yogurt, and healthy kitchen scraps. The raw meat is mostly beef but he also gets salmon, tuna, shrimp, chicken, liver, and other proteins from time to time to provide variety and balanced nutrition. The Base Mix has given us the peace of mind to know he's getting all of the nutrients he needs and simplifies our choice to feed him a raw diet. The cost is not much more than the high quality commercial kibble that helped but didn't cure his issues. Over the last couple of years of feeding this diet O-dog's coat has come in thick and soft - even on his belly. He's shiny, he smells nice, no gas, no tummy upset. We feel really good about our decision to use THK for our boy!
