Odetta

Labrador Retriever — Age 6

Odetta is a service dog, trained to alert me to rapid drops in my blood sugar. I am a Type 1 Diabetic of 33 years and she has saved me countless times from dangerous episodes of hypoglycemia I use to experience on a daily basis. In 2011, Odetta was diagnosed with Fibrosarcoma (an aggressive cancerous tumor) on her check. After the removal of her check bone and 17 rounds of radiation, Odetta remains cancer free and continues to perform her life-saving work for me. She also visits pediatric cancer patients each month!
n
nBefore Odetta's cancer, I was not aware of the importance of proper nutrition for dogs, or the toxins and chemical preservatives that are found in pet foods that have been linked to cancer. My goal after her cancer treatment was to rebuild her immune system with foods known to do just that. In addition to a raw diet, I feed her Honest Kitchen's Thrive, which I hydrate with filtered water, organic kale, parsley and a teaspoon of flax seed oil (blended in my Vitamix and mixed into her food).
n
nI believe that part of Odetta's successful recovery has come from feeding her a balanced, (human grade) diet, rich in antioxidants and amino acids. Her coat is glossier and her overall energy level has been terrific.
n
nThank you, Kathy Allbright
