When my dog was 2 yrs old he went into Stage 4 kidney failure. The vet believes it was a toxin, possibly roundup or or other lawn pesticide. He had to be hospitalized on IV fluids. Luckily he survived & we were able to take him home. He was very weak & very skinny and our holistic vet said to never feed him kibble again. Issue being that dry food pulls water from the organs to make the food moist for digestion. It would pull water from his kidneys & put unneeded duress on them. We didn't want to do this to him since they were barely functioning at this point. She told us about Honest kitchen & suggested feeding that going forward. I wanted to incorporate fresh meat bc he did not seem to like the dehydrated meat. I feed him the base formula (Preference) & add in crock pot chicken & the broth. An entire crockpot chicken lasts us about a week & we go through the smaller box in that time as well. Though his kindeys cannot regain full function he is happier and healthier than before. He will be 6 yrs old next month & has come a long way!! Thank you Honest Kitchen for your natural and honest ingredients that have nurtured him all these years!
