All True Stories
My baby Oliver was our first bulldog and he was born with numerous problems, which we discovered as we went along. When he was almost two, we decided to have him neutered, a surgery complicated by the fact that he had an undescended testicle. When the vet operated, he realized that Oliver's bladder was full of stones. After having the stones tested, he informed us that Oliver had urate stones and he would need to go on Hills food and medicine to dissolve the stones. I reached out to my friends in bulldog rescue for their advice and they all responded with a resounding No Way in answer to putting him on Hills. A couple of my rescue friends helped me create a diet for Oliver, the main ingredient being Honest Kitchen Preference. I researched urate stones extensively and discovered that by administering a strict diet and single protein [tripe], that we can keep his pH at an even 7.0. Oli has been at a 7.0 ever since and he turns 4 next month. Aside from keeping the stones in check, the icing on the cake was our vet at the time begrudgingly admitting our special diet worked.
