Orion
Boston Terrier — Age 1
Orion has been very active, sociable, and generally healthy puppy; but one thing we had been having trouble with since he was about 6 months old was his sensitive digestion. We had been feeding him high quality kibble since he came to our house, however his fecal matter had always been on a softer side. Then it had gotten worse, combined with suspected grass and pollen sensitivity and a medicine the doctor prescribed to reduce itchiness at that time, it was bad, and we had spent some time trying to figure how to get him back on track, two rounds of Metronidazole did not help, we switched a veterinary office, and had to use prescription diet to stabilize his digestion. It got better, some pumpkin and prescription diet and in about a week we were ok, mostly. But his coat did not look that good after a while, and he was always hungry. I knew I needed to get him on proper food, found a limited ingredient kibble, great quality again. He was fine, but never perfect. Still had softer stool on and off. I tried to find a good treat to train him and nothing agreed with him. After an episode of vomiting around July 4th this year, our vet suggested to go off the kibble completely, he suggested one of the cooked frozen foods that are delivered via mail. I remembered from a friend Honest Kitchen, then I found Instagram account with lots of information about cooking for dogs and one recommended option was Honest Kitchen Vegetable and Fruit Base combined with cooked meat. I liked the idea, since I would be able to try proteins of my choice. So we started to feed him that way and he has had no diarrhea or vomiting problems the last 2 months or so...
