Osito

Osito / I found Osito (Little Bear) on the streets of Andalusia, Spain about 11 years ago. He was wearing a collar and looked relatively clean. That evening I fed him some tapas and watched as he scoured the streets, nose to ground like an anteater, for food in the rain. I couldn't resist providing him shelter if only for one night, so I led him home by tying a string from a jamon serrano around his neck. He licked it for half the walk home, then became so tired I carried him. I figured I'd find his owner within a few days , especially when we got home and discovered I was covered in bug bites.

nHe has been with me ever since. Florida, Massachusetts, Fire Island, DC, back to Spain twice. Planes, trains, automobiles and ferries. Beach, forest and jungle. Osito is my dearest friend. To my dismay 2 winters ago he came home from camp with a limp. Doctors misdiagnosed Lyme disease, prescribed antibiotics, and then later reexamined and called it an auto immune arthritis in his joints. The Prednisone, the painkillers, the non steroid pain relief. The acupuncture, water therapy, massage. The decrease in energy and increasing limp, and now my poor furry baby's heavy panting and snoring at any moment. It's all very confusing and convoluted.

nOne thing I knew I could do easily and with immediate results was change his diet to no grain, high protein organic food. Osito's rehab doctor at the time recommended Honest Kitchen and gave me a few samples. I've been ordering Love, Preference, and Zeal ever since!
