Radar Love

Chihuahua — Age 3

I just adopted Radar Love (aka Peanut or Mousse) about 3 weeks ago from WaggingDogs.org, a wonderful rescue based in Carlsbad, CA. I had just lost my dog Ziggy who I had for 17 years, in May. So my experience with raising/training a new dog was a bit rusty. Trying to get him to eat was a bit trying and the rescue suggested trying Honest Kitchen and doing the 10 minute eat it or pick it up thing. Well the first time I gave it to him, I set the timer and when I turned around, the little man had pretty much cleaned his bowl! He loves it. Breakfast and dinner take him about 3 minutes each to eat! Radar is a skin dog and he gets itchy and not a lot of fur. After feeding him no grain chicken diet for 2 1/2 weeks, I'm seeing new growth and his coat is looking very healthy. His itching has become minimal since adopting him as well, even though the weather is still dry. He's a chi so he can be quite protective on our walks and likes to bark. I started bringing the Smooches on our walk to train and distract. So far so good. For playtime, I fill a Kong up with them and Radar has a blast getting them out. Radar Love has an affection for small stuffies and little balls. The boy loves to play fetch and he's quite good at it. He even brings the ball back to me and drops it! He has a ton of toys, all mini like him. And he can be very fashionable when he wants to. His outfits take up an 1/8 of my closet : ) He's a happy dog and I'm a very happy mama. Im so glad he is now a part of my family.
