Rain

German Shepherd — Age 11

Rain developed a mammary tumor in late October 2013. To our great surprise, since all involved were thinking it was a benign though ugly tumor, the biopsy revealed that this was a rare extra-skeletal form of *osteosarcoma.* A little research showed that median survival time without chemo was pretty short - 74 days.
n
nWhile surgery removed the tumor, the next goal was to provide chemo while also supporting her immune system and body. For Rain, THK's Embark offered an ideal choice as the basis for her diet being balanced, grain free and with top notch ingredients. Despite the chemo and other medications, Rain continue to have a great appetite, look wonderful, and digest everything well.
n
nThree rounds of chemo later, with so few GI upsets that I can count them on one hand, Rain continues to thrive. Her checkup in June was an all clear! though in Sept 2014, some small spots were found on her lungs, so we have begun another chemo round to hold the osteo at bay as long as we can.
n
nWe're closing in on a year since the tumor appeared. Rain has had great quality of life, due in no small part to Embark, and has helped raise a litter of grand-puppies and a litter of her great-grandpuppies!

nWe know the value of high quality nutrition and are grateful to The Honest Kitchen for providing products that help us care for our beloved animals like Rain.
