All True Stories
In March, on the Idaho border of Nevada on an Reservation, Rex and his four siblings were dumped. At this point Rex and his littermates were only a one month old puppies. From a distance I couldn't tell what was moving ahead, until we got about twenty yards away, at which point we slammed on the breaks. We ran out of the car and scooped the pups up with some bread in hand. While three were being held, I noticed that one had ran off, Rex. Being in a desert and looking for a brown dog, the same size and color as the landscape, was similar to finding a needle in a haystack. I knew he was out there so I ran a half mile up the highway and sure enough found him, terrified and crying. I picked him up and at that point we locked eyes and I knew I couldn't part from him. We searched on the reservation for about an hour but found nobody who owned the four puppies. So we decided that each of the four men in the car would take a dog. From that freezing and snowy day, Rex and I haven't separated. Being an outdoorsman and someone who must always be moving, Rex has fit in perfectly. He is my best friend and the best dog that anybody could ask for. From hiking and relaxing, to traveling and going to the park or river, we do it all. I'm the luckiest human on the planet to have my best buddy Rex.
