Ronin

Ronin /

our dog is extremely food motivated, so much so that he will learn a new trick in 2 minutes if it means that he will be able to get some food for it. He is very intelligent. Because he has such a good diet his health is fantastic and our vet raves at how good he looks how perfect his weight is and how healthy he is. We learned on our previous dog that diet makes all the difference. We started feeding our dogs organic vegetables and fruits, Honest Kitchen, salmon skins and other Omega's and similar products and not eating the run of the mill kibble. His normal meals are 2x day in the morning he has to forage for his organic kibble in the back yard which is similar to what he would have to do if a wild canine (such as wolves). Then for the evening meal he has another forage (a little less than 1 cup each time) and then he gets his stew. To make his stew; we use 2.5Tbsp honest kitchen dehydrated limited ingredient, 1/4 cup organic whole blueberry, 1/4 cup organic peas, a dash of organic pumpkin, a few small florets of organic broccoli and the occasional fish skin or an Omega3 gel capsule safe for dogs and then pour boiling water and let sit till tepid temperature. Ronin is a very exuberant and healthy 66lb American Staffordshire Terrier. He loves his meals and looks forward to it all the time. He has not had any health concerns and his teeth and coat are in great shape all based on the diet and exercise he gets, after all Dogs can develop diabetes mellitus as well. We thought that this tye of diet would be more than the run of the mill kibble that you find in a supermarket such as Pedigree or something similar that has no nutritional benefit to the dog; but this diet is not only better for the dog but less money than the kibble. (If you plan to use a diet rich in organic fruits/vegetables/meats...make sure you research since there are some items that are dangerous to your dog.)
