Sako

German Shepherd — Age 10

Shortly after rescuing Sako, we discovered he had a lot of intolerances to different types of food. After trying nearly everything, I started taking some courses in canine nutrition to learn how to make his food. Along the way my veterinarian suggested a blood allergy test. We learned from the test that he was allergic to many things in his environment & many common ingredients found in dog food like flax seed, peas, oats, rice, etc. At the time I could not find any food on the market that he could safely eat & started making all of his meals. While I do enjoy it, I am chronically ill & finding the time when I am feeling good enough to spend an afternoon meal prepping is very difficult. Several months ago I was introduced to the Honest Kitchen’s products when I started feeding them to my Malinois puppy who does not have allergies but a very sensitive stomach. One day when I was skimming though the ingredients of their grain free fish recipe which had recently changed, I was completely shocked to discover it was a food that Sako could actually eat. I picked up a small box to trial & to my surprise he did not have any reactions to it. Finding a food that I don’t have to prepare myself is priceless. While I still make some of his meals I now always have the Honest Kitchen’s grain free fish recipe on hand in my house. It has become a life saver when traveling & even more so when I’ve been in the hospital & needed someone else to care for him. I am so thrilled to have found this product not only because of the ease it has brought into our lives but also because the ingredients are sourced ethically from non GMO & non feed Ingredients. Something that I value greatly as a canine nutritionist.
