Sparky

Sparky / I found Sparky in Saint Louis when he was two years old. He had a gray collar on and he was with a female Siberian Husky. It was in Feb and it was bitterly cold. I offered them dry dog food and kept them overnight in my garage. I brought both dogs to the Humane Society. Sparky stayed there for several weeks. The humane society neutered him and he was heartworm negative. I called daily and I went to see him twice. He was curled up in a cage. They named him Alex and said that he had the sweetest personality.
nI finally adopted Sparky for 80 dollars. Sparky was 25lbs when I got him. I trained Sparky to become a certified therapy dog at Support Dogs, Inc. He was instrumental in my nursing research where I looked at the phenomenon of loneliness in a long term care setting. I wanted to see if loneliness can be decreased with a dog or a robotic dog.
nThis research was published in the Journal of Gerontology. Sparky became a famous dog. His picture was in the front page of the Saint Louis Post Dispatch and in all the world's newspapers. Jay Leno even kidded about him. Sparky is now 15 going to be 16 soon. He is very slow moving but we still love him lots! He get shots for his arthritis, acupuncture and he sees a vet specialist regularly. He now lives in a very nice comfortable house in OR. He sleeps on an orthopedic mattress and he eats quality dog food.
