All True Stories
Three years ago my Schnoodle Toby developed a nasty staph infection with crusty, scabby skin that we finally attributed to chicken and beef allergies. The vet prescribed hypo-allergy kibble that lessened the flare ups but did not get rid of them completely. Meanwhile, I didn't like my dog on dry food all the time as his skin got even more dry with bad dandruff everywhere else.
n I then researched a bit and decided to try Honest Kitchen's ZEAL as my dog needs to eat fish. Luckily my dog will seriously eat anything, including fresh vegetables, the occasional piece of fruit, almond butter. He recently snagged a shitake mushroom that hit the kitchen floor and ate that with gusto. I've been feeding him the ZEAL which he devours, for about four months now, but his skin completely cleared up after only two weeks. I did have to start feeding him a bit more of the ZEAL, as it is very lean protein, but his skin is clear in all the spots where the scabs were developing.
n My vet didn't like that I changed my dog over to the ZEAL at first, but couldn't argue with the results. His poops are beautiful, not the greenish-yellow looser stuff that he had with the kibble. This is curious as ZEAL looks like green oatmeal, but what comes out the other end is brown with good shape. Sorry to go on about poops, but you can tell his digestive system is happier. One more benefit with ZEAL is that he takes a bit more time to eat it. My dog is a gulper and would literally swallow the kibble whole, like he was downing vitamins. He has to work a little harder to get all the healthy ZEAL out of the corners of his bowl. Then my boyfriend's dog comes after he finishes and sees if there is even a speck left as she loves it too.
n Toby has lots of energy and is happy that i'm not constantly picking at those scabs any more. Wish I had found HK and Zeal sooner!
