I have owned many dogs in my life. Tycho is my first intact male dog. When exposed to females in heat Tycho reacts by going on a hunger strike. This is very stressful for me. The last dog show we attended he stopped eating well for a couple weeks and lost 10 lbs. I have anguished over this issue and have been told that it is par for the course.
nBy not eating, obviously he looses weight. But also he is tired and lacks energy. I need him to be on top of his game when we are performing in both the conformation ring and the performance ring.
nMy problem has been solved. Tycho loves honest kitchen food and will not turn up his nose at it even when under the stress of a dog show. I am so thankful that I have found a food that is both high quality and that he actually consistently eats.
