Zanny

Leonberger — Age 4

Zanny has had a tough go of it from day one with illness after illness. By 6 months it was determined that he had IBD and at year 1 that he had cancer (Squamous Cell Carcinoma). He was given a prognosis of 4-6 months at that time without major surgery and only 1 year with it. So, we opted to forgo the surgery and shoot for a better (albeit shorter) life that included herbs and good food. That meant home cooked meals initially. It was a chore. WIth a 150 lb dog that meant cooking up 30 lbs of meat, sweet potatoes (peeled), green beans, every other weekend. I never saw my family anymore, and I didn't feel confident that I was getting my boy all the nutrients he needed. After about a year of this, I found Honest Kitchen. I truly believe it saved both of our lives. It's easy to prepare, supports his immune function, doesn't aggravate his IBD, and he LOVES IT! I've used several of the grain free formulas, with complete confidence. A side benefit is that now we can spend our Saturday's walking instead of cooking heaps of sweet potatoes. Oh..and did I mention that Zanny is going to be 5 years old this spring? That's right, he beat the odds with no surgery and no chemo. Just good honest food! My miracle pup found his miracle food.
