My friend, a holistic vet, recommended The Honest Kitchen for our new puppy--I have always had issues with kibble and for our previous dogs, I've cooked and frozen portions of food. My vet friend's recommendation matched extensive research that I'd been doing, and I jumped in with a 10 pound box, trusting that this would be the best possible choice. As you see from her photo, her coat shines. What you cannot see is that she has had absolutely no issues, from the day we brought her home and started her on The Honest Kitchen chicken and grain formula. At not quite 10 pounds, she's enthusiastically eating 1 cup a day, spread across 3 servings and best of all: she sleeps 11pm to 5am! We've done a bit of experimenting with texture and temperature: she seems to eat best when it is warm and somewhat runny. But she will also eat with no problems when it is cold and with a thicker consistency. I don't like barking puppies but I make an exception when she barks to express her eagerness to eat! I really like the fact that she is getting human grade food, freshly prepared. I also like the fact that if we are pressed for time, we can make up food in advance and simply add a little warm water at the last minute to bring it to her preferred temperature. I also appreciate that she will not need to transition from a puppy formula as she grows.
